Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food – Hippocrates 400BC
Both macronutrients and micronutrients are crucial to overall health and wellbeing.
macronutrients provide the fuel to live and the correct balance of them controls the hormonal response that ultimately affects how you look and feel. While micronutrients maintain your health at a cellular level.
All foods carry messages to our genes which instruct good health or I’ll health, fat loss or fat gain. Losing weight is not merely just about calories, but more importantly the messages contained in those calories.
Organic foods do not contain the hormones, pesticides and insecticides that are found in mass produced foods. These agricultural chemicals do affect human health and can interfere with fat loss. A recent study in children showed that by changing their diet to organic foods three days a week was enough to reduce the amount of chemicals released in their urine. Organic plants need to produce more protective chemicals to defend themselves against attack from insects and bacteria, and even make their own sunscreens. This makes organic plants more rich in phytochemicals, specialised plant elements and organic molecules, which go to all kinds of good uses when we incorporate them in our diet.
I know organic foods cost a little more, but if you just start by switching some food, not all food. It will have a dramatic effect on your health and the health of your loved ones.
